the trip was 2 weeks ago and hence, i kinda forgotten some details lah (yeah, i'm growing old) so please pardon me if this is not WHAT you wanna read.
we departed to jakarta on 15th Jul 09 at 0750hrs on SQ. it was a bad weather day so i kinda freaked out lah when i looked at the weather.. it was even freakier when i gotta know that hub wont be seated together with us, not even NEAR us.. but knowing that i could handle Daniyal singlehandedly, he couldn't care less. That's my Hub, for you. Thank you. =)
Once checked in, we proceed to Terminal 2 for a quick breakfast. It's a MUST for Daniyal to have his regular Prata fix (considering he won't have any for the next few days)..
You can now see how much he loves Prata.. something which till now I don't understand why. Ask him every morning what he wants for breakfast and he'll say PRATA! gosh!

Wait! Now, who is this mat salleh next to Daniyal? He's Nick Crocher and an unaccompanied minor onboard the same flight as us. He's turning 11 this year and he came from Brisbane where he visited his dad and now back to Jakarta where he's staying with his mom who is an Indonesian. I'd like to thank SQ for allocating his seat next to mine and Daniyal cos he immediately hit it off with Daniyal. I guess when you have 2 friendly kids next to each other, chances are they'll talk non-stop. Never mind the fact that they might be talking in different languages. LOL! Nick was splendid and Daniyal behaved well around him like he didn't refuse to put on the seat belt cos he saw how big bro Nick had it on and they played games together.. As you could see from the picture above, the both of them fell asleep while waiting for the aircraft to taxi on the runway. The flight was slightly delayed due to bad weather and the captain decided to wait till the rain subsided before asking for clearance. Good idea, Capt!

Once we took off, the weather up above was so so fine. Look at the formation of the clouds. Pretty amazing, isn't it? However, soon after that we came upon many turbulences, especially across Palembang =(

This time round, the breakfast they served onboard were not to my liking. If I know, I'd request for Fruit Platter instead. Anyway, who says airline food tastes good? Not unless u travel First Class lor!

Soon we touched down at Soekarno Hatta Airport in Jakarta and bade our farewell to Nick. I think this was the longest 1.5hrs of flight I've been in. Especially when I was made to entertain these 2 kids. Haha.
The moment we cleared the immigration and approached the arrival hall, we were literally 'hounded' by taxi drivers. I was lucky I read on travel advices to Jakarta before my departure and at least had an inkling to how much the taxi fare would cost us from the airport to the city. So when these taxi drivers quoted us Rp 225,000, we knew instantly, that the price was too high! So we took our time to stroll at the arrival hall in search of the highly recommended taxi service, Blue Bird.. we spotted their counter and asked for their quotation. They informed us gladly that their taxis are by meter and it should cost us around Rp90,000 and at most Rp100,000 due to traffic congestion adn plus the toll fees. Hm... what a huge difference from what the 'tourists trap' taxi drivers quoted us. Without much hesitation, we hopped on Blue Bird..

I don't have a very good impression of this hotel. However, one can't expect so much from a 4 star hotel in Jakarta. We had wanted to stay in Novotel all the way BUT there weren't any vacancy. We suspect it could be due to the APM (Annual Awards show) in Jakarta. But for the price of SGD47 per nite, why not? LOL. (please note the price is due to the airline staff rate that Hub gets.. yes, that's the perks for working in an airline industry)..
Soon after we checked in, we were ready to recce MANGGA DUA. Muahaha! and because I didn't eat breakfast onboard, I was terribly hungry so we hurriedly and hungrily looked for food and this stall enticed me to try their food: SOTO BETAWI (ayam).. I didn't regret!

1 word for IT: FANTASTICALLYHEAVENISTIC!
LOL!
It tastes something like our Mee Soto, but BETTER!! I put tonnes and tonnes of chilli into it and after that was gasping for air n water.. LOL!

Note: Rp225,000 = SGD32 (approx)
Rp100,000 = SGD14 (approx)
our final taxi fare from the airport?
Rp89,000 = SGD12.80
but i think my Hub was in a good mood so he gave the cab driver,
Rp 100,000.. =)
konon SGD2 tu tips lah.. haha.
Our Hotel, IBIS MANGGA DUA, the Superior Room and the views from the room.

then we went to their supermarket to buy some drinks and last minute amenities. Never ever take anything from the minibar because the hotels overcharge them.
