The Family Tree

Preschoolers have so much fun learning these days.. and it's even more FUN when they engage the parents as well in their daily learning. I learnt this when in the beginning of the year, Daniyal's pre-school try to engage parent-child bonding through school activities, at least once a month and here's how they do it.

In the month of January, we were made to draw, cut up and hang 3 objects on a hanger, that the children can find in the school since their theme for January was MY FIRST DAY IN SCHOOL. Any items as long as they are school related. So, Daniyal & I decided on a "scissors", "ruler" & "book".. Easy? I thought so too but whilst drawing the items on the drawing paper, Daniyal & I had a slight disagreement because he thought, my BOOK, doesnt look like a BOOK at all.. (I left school like 13years ago.. so, yeah) but i thought it was allright so I ignored him.. Little did I know, suddenly he became disinterested because I wasn't paying attention to his requests. When everything was almost done, I swore, we had a hard time to convince him to bring it to school the next day.. LOL. As a result, I forgot to take the picture of the 'project'.. So, that's for January.

For February, the theme was "ALL ABOUT ME" and Daniyal was given a paper doll and we had to decorate the paper doll to look like HIM, who else, huh? However, the decoration were not that simple at all because we had to use our imagination and be creative. Daniyal decided that 'his' t-shirt has to be green in colour to resemble his preschool, Kidz Meadow, and there I was frantically looking for anything green. We settled on a green ribbon, much to his displeasure.. lol.. why? because ribbons are always associated with girls and he doesn't want that BUT i insisted, well, i never did learn my lesson, did i? :P We used 'black threads' for his hair.. thanks to Mak sewing kit, we found what we wanted but then again, another disagreement arose, because he wanted his hair to be 'spiky' but I left school 13years ago, didn't i? and i didn't know how to spike it so we settled for BEN-10 kinda hairstyle.. lol. Mother and son did have a lot of disagreements but we sure had a lof of fun too.. like how to colour the buttons black for the eyes, and how much glue to spread on the paper before we used the rice to 'colour' the hands and the legs.. it was sure FUN but a headachee for me as well.. the END result? This time I did snap a pic..

Nice? I couldn't tell from Daniyal's expression but I'm sure he was proud of his artwork, because this time, he 'willingly' brought the artwork to school the next day.. =)

Did i say it was a parent-child project? It has become a Mother & Son project so for March, I'm gonna make the daddy do the work.. So what it is for March??

I'm sure dear Hub will FREAK OUT! Who cares?? He has to go through all the disagreements I had with Daniyal and all the materials searching.. Just to add in more FUN, maybe, I should make him get all the thumbprints of his mom, dad and siblings and my side of family as well.. and then make sure he finds all the pretty2 picturs to be pasted on the family tree.. Hm.. I haven't break the news to him yet but we shall see.. he'll beg me to do it 'together' but I can always use my BIG tummy as an excuse.. hee hee.. unless, it's a special request from Daniyal.. I may relent =)

School holidays are just around the corner and I've taken 2 days of leave so I can spend more precious time with Daniyal.. the question is, to where? Hm... Resort World, anyone??
